Our Yoga Teachers - Rishikesh Nath Yogshala

Who teaches the yoga teacher training at Rishikesh Nath Yogshala?

Every batch at Rishikesh Nath Yogshala is taught by the same four core teachers: Mayuri Shewale, the school's founder and lead teacher; Rahul Badoni, co-founder and philosophy teacher; Priya Sharma, the aerial yoga specialist; and Swami Anand, who leads meditation. Each leads their own subject personally, module by module. Full bios, credentials and what each teacher covers are below.

The people who teach at Rishikesh Nath Yogshala are the same people whose names appear on this page, batch after batch. The school keeps its core faculty deliberately small: four named teachers, each responsible for their own subject, rather than a large or changing staff list. Every module of the 200 hour yoga teacher training and the school's other residential courses is led personally by one of them. That is a deliberate choice, not an accident of size: a smaller faculty is harder to scale carelessly, and the school has chosen to keep it that way on purpose.

How The Faculty Teaches

Four Teachers, Every Module, Every Batch

A small, fixed faculty has a real effect on what a residential course actually feels like. You are not introduced to a new instructor every week who has to relearn where the group is; the same four teachers watch you progress from your first sun salutation to your last practicum class, and their feedback builds on what they already know about how you move, where you struggle and what you have already fixed. Asana correction is the clearest example: an alignment cue that would take a stranger a full class to notice takes a teacher who has already watched you for weeks a matter of seconds.

It also means the curriculum is not a stack of disconnected guest lectures. Philosophy, meditation, asana and aerial work are taught by teachers who know each other's material well enough to reference it, so a philosophy class on the Yoga Sutras and an asana class on alignment are not run as if they belong to two unrelated courses. Each teacher owns their subject fully rather than sharing it across a rotating cast, and each is reachable throughout the residency rather than visiting for a single guest session and moving on. If you have a question about your own progress, you can ask the teacher who actually taught that class, rather than being redirected to whoever is available that day.

  • These four teachers lead every current batch personally, subject by subject
  • Each teacher owns one subject area rather than rotating through several
  • Feedback carries across weeks, because the same teacher watches your whole progress
  • Philosophy, asana, meditation and aerial work are taught as one connected curriculum
  • Teachers are reachable through the residency, not visiting for a single session
  • Credentials are held individually and named on this page, not claimed collectively

The Four Teachers

Mayuri Shewale

Founder & Lead Yoga Teacher · E-RYT 500, 15+ years experience

Mayuri Shewale is the heart and soul of Rishikesh Nath Yogshala, bringing over 15 years of dedicated teaching experience to every class. As the founder and lead teacher, she has guided students from around the world through transformative yoga journeys that extend far beyond the mat. Her own yoga journey began in her early twenties, when she discovered yoga as a way to heal both physical discomfort and emotional stress. What started as a personal practice quickly became a calling, and she immersed herself in intensive study, completing her 200 hour and 500 hour teacher training certifications and earning her E-RYT 500 designation from Yoga Alliance.

Her teaching style is deeply rooted in traditional Hatha and Vinyasa yoga, brought together with a modern understanding of anatomy, alignment and therapeutic applications. Mayuri leads the teaching methodology module herself, working with each trainee individually on classroom management, verbal cueing and hands-on adjustment, because how to teach a pose safely is, in her view, inseparable from how to demonstrate it correctly in the first place. She believes yoga is not just about perfecting poses, but about connecting mind, body and spirit in a holistic practice.

Teaches: Hatha yoga, aerial yoga, Vinyasa yoga, teaching methodology and asana alignment.

Rahul Badoni

Co-Founder & Philosophy Teacher · RYT 500, 12+ years experience

Rahul Badoni brings a rich understanding of yoga philosophy and ancient wisdom to Rishikesh Nath Yogshala. With over 12 years of dedicated practice and teaching, Rahul specializes in the philosophical and spiritual dimensions of yoga, helping students understand not just the physical practice, but the deeper purpose behind it. Born and raised in the foothills of the Himalayas, Rahul grew up immersed in India's spiritual traditions. His passion for yoga philosophy led him to study ancient texts including the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the Bhagavad Gita and the Upanishads under teachers in Rishikesh, and he completed his advanced 500 hour teacher training with a focus on yoga philosophy, Sanskrit and meditation techniques.

Rahul's classes are known for their depth and authenticity. He has a particular ability to make ancient wisdom accessible and relevant to modern life, helping students understand how yogic principles can guide them both on and off the mat. As co-founder, he also shapes how the school's philosophy classes connect back to the asana and pranayama work taught elsewhere in the curriculum, so a student leaves with a framework, not a list of memorised Sanskrit terms.

Teaches: Yoga philosophy, Ashtanga yoga, meditation, pranayama, Sanskrit and the Bhagavad Gita.

Priya Sharma

Aerial Yoga Specialist · RYT 500, aerial yoga expert

Priya Sharma is the school's resident aerial yoga specialist, bringing creativity, playfulness and precise technique to the practice of yoga in hammocks. With training in both traditional yoga and aerial arts, Priya has developed a teaching style that combines strength, flexibility, grace and fun. She discovered aerial yoga after practising traditional yoga for several years and immediately fell in love with the freedom and possibilities it offered, and pursued specialised training in aerial yoga afterward, studying under teachers in India and internationally.

Her background in dance and gymnastics informs how she teaches, helping students overcome fear, build confidence and discover new dimensions of their practice safely off the ground. Priya's aerial yoga classes range from gentle restorative sessions suited to complete beginners, to challenging inversions and advanced sequences for experienced practitioners, and every session opens with the rigging and safety checks that make suspended practice possible in the first place.

Teaches: Aerial yoga, hammock yoga, inversions and restorative yoga.

Swami Anand

Meditation Master · Meditation & Vedanta, 20+ years practice

Swami Anand brings over 20 years of dedicated meditation practice and teaching to Rishikesh Nath Yogshala. Having spent years in ashrams and meditation centers across India, he offers students guidance in the art of meditation, pranayama and inner awareness. Born into a traditional family, Swami Anand was drawn to the contemplative life from a young age. He studied under meditation teachers in the Himalayan tradition, learning techniques including Vipassana, mindfulness, mantra meditation and yogic breathing practices, before taking on the role of teaching those same practices to sincere seekers.

Swami Anand's meditation sessions are a regular fixture of the teacher training programme. His gentle, unhurried presence creates a space where students can quiet their minds, connect with their inner selves and experience the stillness that a consistent meditation practice brings, often for students who have never sat in silence for any length of time before arriving.

Teaches: Meditation, Vedanta, yoga nidra and spiritual counseling.

What This Means for a Batch

In practice, this small faculty is what makes the 200 hour multistyle training hang together as one course rather than a set of separate workshops under one roof. Mayuri leads the asana and teaching methodology work that trainees spend the most hours on. Rahul carries the philosophy thread that runs underneath the physical practice. Priya's aerial sessions, where they appear in a course, are taught with the same rigging and safety discipline every time, not handed to whichever assistant happens to be free. And Swami Anand's meditation sessions are where the pace of the day deliberately slows down, a counterweight to two full asana sessions and a full day of study.

None of the four teach from a script written by someone else. Each brings their own years of study and their own teaching voice to the subject they lead, and a trainee who has questions after class can ask the same teacher who taught it, not a coordinator relaying the question to someone who was not in the room.
